Bike ** - Felixstowe Prom,
The forecast looked promising for a windsurf foil at The Manor in
Felixstowe with the wind starting light and west turning to SW and building
around midday. Being a hot sunny Sunday I decided to take my trailer down
to Squiz Lane at nine to park as I would probably not get a space later in
the day and actually was lucky to get the last space at 9! I took my bike
with me despite it having no brakes so I could cycle back and got a few
nice pics to send to the TV weather even though its usually a waste of time
sending them in at weekends! I then had plenty of time for breakfast and to
do my exercises, I started in the backgarden but kept burning my feet on my
yoga mat so came indoors to complete them waiting for the tide to drop and
the wind to turn SW! The wind was building nicely and swinging so I decided
to bike back down and was pleased I had parked earlier as it was very busy
with a good breeze blowing and sunny and hot! Foil board was quickly set-up
and with the wind gusting to 20 knots I took a chance with my 5.5 which
proved to be OK but a tad underpowered at times meaning I stayed mainly in
Front of Squiz Lane as going upwind is harder when under, also the wind was
supposed to turn offshore at some point so thought it safer not to venture
too far although I did several lond runs up to 2 miles offshore! It was an
OK 20 miles even though the wind was up and down and swinging off at times
with the sea fairly lumpy but the sun was out, the shortie wa son so
can’t complain! With the wind turning west and going patchy I decided to
call it a day as there is loads of wind forecast for the week and I need to
pace myself:) Therer was a couple of wingers and a fin sailor also out
enjoying the warm sunshine!
